Neal Thomas and Michael Begala launched West River Band in 1981. It originally got together because Neal's front door wouldn't lock and Mike's did. Neal would leave his gear at Mike's place and every so often they would play together, which became more frequent, leading to the making of the "West River Band. They started off as an off the wall country band with heavy influences of the Grateful Dead, Waylon Jennings, Commander Cody and Chuck Berry. For the last ten years and at present, the band consists of the following six members. |
